October on the farm

October is fantastic time on the farm with the fiery autumn sunsets illuminating fields full of intense orange to dark amber pumpkins. It's the perfect time to take a refreshing walk around the fields and see the myriad of autumnal vegetables from the vibrantly coloured beet leaf to the enormously cumbersome deep green marrows.

The abundance of vegetables coming out and off of the ground can also be seen at the front of the farm shop, where our own produce displays are bursting with this vibrant seasons offerings. There's beetroot, broccoli, cabbages, cauliflowers, potatoes, celeriac, celery, fennel, kale, brussels sprouts, sweetcorn, apples, quinces, pumpkins, marrows, courgettes and sorts of varieties of squashes in every shape, size and colour.

The farmers are also busy planting the new crops, such as spring cabbage and at the end of the month the wheat will be sewn and the cows brought into the warm for winter store.
