Discover the theatre of Argentinian-style wood-fired cooking in this hands-on masterclass, led by Somerset Grill Chef, James Whetlor.

Over three hours, you’ll learn how to master the Somerset Grill. You’ll pick up everything from building the perfect fire and controlling the heat to cooking a beautiful steak, all while tasting your way through five delicious dishes cooked over fire.

With just 12 places per session, it’s a relaxed, sociable way to learn, with plenty of time to ask questions and have a go yourself.

What you’ll learn

How to choose wood, build your fire and create the perfect embers
Controlling heat through grill height and ember placement
Choosing, seasoning, cooking, resting and carving steak
Cooking on the chapa (the flat-top griddle)
Using accessories, including the kebab rack, hanging hooks and Dutch oven
Caring for your grill, from cleaning to ash disposal

What you’ll taste

Chapa-cooked mushrooms on sourdough
Fire-cooked Darts Farm steak, sliced to share
Flatbreads and seasonal vegetables from the farm with yoghurt and tahini dressing
Skewers from the kebab rack
Dutch oven cake to finish
