Help your flowers last longer

Help your flowers last longer

This week our expert florists, Anna and Tracy, are sharing their top tips to make your British cut flowers last longer!

1000x1300 british-flower-week-florist-hydrangea-darts-farm-devonTip 1: You wouldn't drink from a dirty glass so why should your flowers? Make sure that your vase is squeaky clean and your cut flowers will last so much longer!

Tip 2: Flowers are needy! Trimming their stems and giving them fresh water as often as possible will help them to last much longer!

Tip 3: Keep your cut flowers away from your fruit bowl! As fruit ripens it produces a gas called ethylene, which will cause cut flowers to age quicker.

Tip 4: Revive your hydrangeas by placing them head first in fresh cold water for a few hours. You will give them a new lease of life!

Tip 5: Want to make your cut flower's last even longer? Why not try drying them! Hang them upside down in a warm place (e.g. over an AGA) and keep their beauty forever!
