Our Food Heroes Dinner is back!

Our Food Heroes Dinner is back!

Posted in Food & Drink, Supporting Local on 15 Nov 2018

To celebrate the 25 years since Picfresh evolved into Darts Farm, as we know it today, we held the Food Heroes Dinner where everyone enjoyed a fabulous four course meal, paired with wines, all produced by our local food and drink heroes. We hosted our top Devon food and drink producers and local foodies. It was a perfect way for us to celebrate many of our exceptional friends such as Quicke's, Sharpham and our Master Butchers, who have all worked with us since we became a farm shop 25 years ago. We also celebrated our fantastic new producers such as Sutton Lucy Dairy, who we've recently welcomed to the Darts Farm family.

Darts_Farm_2018_Food_Heroes_DinnerWe are so proud to work with such amazing, dedicated Food Heroes who work incredibly hard to bring the best food and drink to our tables. We enjoyed a four-course feast, featuring all our food heroes' produce, which was prepared by our head chef Paul Matthews, paired with local wines and ciders. Our food and drink heroes gave inspiring speeches as the meal was served, exploring the history of their craft, their passion for our county and the strong relationships they hold with Darts Farm. We were thrilled that these legends of Devon produce could share their unique knowledge and expertise with us!

Our guests were treated to the very first taste of Salcombe Gin's brand new limited-edition (and very delicious) sloe and damson Guilding Star gin; paired with Luscombe tonic and a slice of lemon! This was the perfect welcome drink to have as everyone mingled. After some great conversation, we took our seats in the restaurant, excited to tuck into the first course.

Our long-time favourites, Sharpham Wine and Cheese, unveiled their young and vibrant New Release for 2018 at the dinner. Prepared wonderfully by head chef Paul Matthews, he paired it with starters of fresh Brixham lobster and crab from Dave Kerley at The Fish Shed, and Ticklemore’s Devon goat’s cheese with Darts Farm beetroot terrine.

This was followed up with Darts Farm home-reared roast beef sirloin, with seasonal vegetables picked fresh from our farm, matched with Sharpham Pinot Noir 2017 and a stunning vegetarian dish of roasted seasonal vegetables with pearl barley and wild mushrooms.

The puddings were mouth-watering, choosing between a  delicious caramelised apple tart with toffee sauce and clotted cream from award-winning Sutton Lucy Dairy, or rich Willies Cacao chocolate mousse, matched with Kingston Black Aperitif. The exceptional cheeseboard celebrated produce from Quicke’s, Sharpham, Cornish Blue and Hillside, with cheeses, biscuits and chutney accompanied by Sandford Orchards’ Ice Cider rounding off the evening perfectly!

The restaurant was beautifully decorated with wonderful displays by Anna, our expert florist at the Flower Shack as every table shared smiles, laughs and new friendships!

A night to remember we cannot wait to celebrate more with our producers and customers alike!
