From Tradition To  Transition

Solar_Pannel_Shot_600x700How we moved from conventional power to clean solar energy, The current state of  climate change was the drive for Darts Farm to make a change to its power supply. Solar energy seemed the most sensible due to Darts Farm being such a sun trap, therefore harnessing this feature was unquestionable. By generating clean electricity on-site, solar panels significantly cut down on fossil fuel use. This reduces the farm shop's carbon footprint, helping combat climate change!

Fun Fact: Our solar panels harness enough natural energy from the sun each year to make 4,177,061.42 cups of brewed tea.

Powering Daily Operations with the Sun

Our rooftops are fixed with Solar Photovoltaic (PV) pannels that convert sunlight into electricity, even on cloudy days! The electricity is then used to help power Refridgerators, lighting, tills and may more important systems in Farm Shop and behind the scenes.

From January 2024 to May 2025 our Solar Panels produced an outstanding figure of 472,007.94 kWh! Which is the equivilant to:

  • 2,480 Trees Being Planted
  • 96.73 Tonnes of CO2
  • 366,673.95 Petrol Miles

Solar Power comes with so many benefits such as environmental, ethical and economical. Here at darts Farm we believe in an energy source that doesn't cost the earth. With an ever-growing Farm Shop we have now expanded to, 5 on-site buildings with rooftop solar panels. Our renewable energy operations result in Cleaner, Greener systems without polluting the air or water. It supports more sustainable food handling and storage, without the hidden environment cost.

Eco-Footprints in Every Basket

Full_Solar_arial_600x700Due too Darts farm running on Solar Power it means that your shopping basket full of high-end goods, online or in-store, carries a much lower environmental impact than supermarket alternatives. Every basket you carry out the door is one step toward a smaller carbon footprint, for you, and for the planet.

Sustainability Beyond the Solar Panels

Our native Ruby Red Devon cattle graze by the River Clyst in summer, enriching the soil and supporting natural carbon capture. In winter, we raise water levels to boost biodiversity and attract migratory wildlife.

Along our Nature Trail, you'll find wildflowers, rare bee orchids, insect hotels, beehives, and woodland — all helping to improve pollination, pest control, and soil health.

We also capture excess heat from our refrigeration to warm water drawn from our own farm borehole, making even our energy use more sustainable!
